    Why does my cursor in Microsoft Word sometimes shrink to about 3/4 itís normal size and how can I restore it to the normal size?

    I'm getting the same problem for the first time today. It's shrunk to a mere dot, for no apparent reason. Would be grateful if anyone recognises this and can tell me what I did.

    Thanks Andrew: going to 500% and then back to 100% has done the trick. It happened when I was carrying the laptop around with programs open--so it may be that something just got knocked.

    Its good that you have found a solution.

    Looking at that other thread, no-one appears to have found the 'cause' of the problem, only a workable resolution. Perhaps carrying the laptop shakes the electrons around and that appears to be as good an explanation as any. However, if the problem repeats on new documents and a fix is to replace Normal.dot then there must be some document attribute that can be jiggered.
