All I am trying to do is center the text up, down, left, and right in two table cells.
I have attached an example word file that will explain this better.
The problem cells are under the column "TRANSACTION /ITEM NUMBER"

    Thanks in advance.

Strange, if I change the font to Arial, it works correctly. It's as though that particular font (Trebuchet MS) has an exaggerated descender area or is permanently superscripted for some reason. ??

My thoughts exactly! It is strange, but thanks for the info on the fonts I will try changing them.
Glad you noticed and that it wasn't just me going crazy !

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi HandyAndy,

I think your problem may be related to the line spacing you're using - the first TRANSACTION /ITEM NUMBER is formatted with a 1.1 multiple line spacing, whereas the second number has single line spacing. If you change the 1.1 multiple line spacing back to single, the number appears to center as it should.
    Cheers,
