    I am using Word 2003.
I have a Table of 3 columns and 100 rows. I wish to automatically insert the numbers 1 to 100 in the first column. I think that this is an "Insert Field - Sequence" command but cannot seen to sort it out.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Place the mouse pointer just above the first column so that it becomes a downward arrow.
Click to select the first column.
Either assign a numbered style such as List Number, or use the Numering tab of Format | Bullets and Numbering to set the numbering.

This works fine Hans as it allows me to prefix the number sequence with a group number.

    Many thanks
