Is there a way to associate a customize toolbar for just the document that will use it ? Upon exiting this document I would like to reset the toolbar to it's previous state.

Yes: while customizing the toolbar, make sure that the document is selected in the "Save changes in" dropdown near the bottom of the Customize dialog. the customizations will be stored with the document, and only be available when the document is open and is the active document.

    Hi Hans,
    1. Is the Toolbar customization supposed to be stored in a template?
    2. Sorry, I just can't find the "Save changes in" button in the Word Options > Customize dialog box.

Here is the dialog box from Word 2003, with "Save in" highlighted.

    1. Toolbar customizations can be stored in a template (in that case, the customizations will affect all documents based on the template) or in a document (which will affect that document only).

    2. Sorry, the exact caption is "Save in". And the dialog is Tools | Customize (at least in Word 2003 and before - I assume that Word 2007 is entirely different because it has the Ribbon instead of toolbars).
