    I have a formula, =IF( ISNA( VLOOKUP("$D4",'[Shrink Feb 2009.xls]2009 Comp Sales'!$A$4:$C$815,2,FALSE) ), null, VLOOKUP("$D4",'[Shrink Feb 2009.xls]2009 Comp Sales'!$A$4:$C$815,2,FALSE) ).

Excel is giving me a #NAME error.

How do I tell Excel to put NULL in the cell if no matching value if found. I tried using "", but the formula I have to total the row then gives the #VALUE error.

    Thanks for ANY help.

To enter a blank, use "". Since theSUM and SUBTOTAL functions ignore text values, this shouldn't cause problems with totals.
If that is not feasible, use 0.

The SUM works. The original formula for the total just used addition. I have converted it to SUM and it is again working as required.

    Thanks for the help.
