    Angry

The wife has a new machine, local OEM build. When she places a DVD (David Foster) it just sits there with big round thing in the center of Media Center Player screen spinning.
The ONLY way out is to do the "There Finger Salute" and select the RED shut down button in the lower right corner.

I know NOTHING about this "Media Center" with Vista or even Windows 7

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

If you don't want to 'mess' with Media Center change the Autorun and file association settings.

On her HP desktop and Sony laptop all she had to do was throw in the DVD and Media Center opened and played the same DVD.

Any other software been installed? Have you tried a repair? Is there a recovery partition?

Is the drive usable for a data CD/DVD?

Yes, she has installed Roxio Creator 10, Office 2003, Word Perfect, TrueImage and many others.
I know of NO other program that deals with the CD/DVD reader/burner.

NO, there is NOT a "Recover" partition, and YES, she got the MS Vista OEM DVD.
Yes, the CD/DVD works as she has installed many programs, after the Roxio Creator.

    No, to the repair.

I was reading something recently about issues with Roxio and Media Center. Now, all I have to do is remember where.

Is the Roxio direct CD/DVD access piece (DLA??) installed? Can you disable it?
