    The IBM 1403 was my very first experience with a printer.

    The IBM 1403 was a wonderful printer, because you could overprint multiple 'lines' onto a line on the page (ah, the wonders of FORTRAN), and build up 'ASCII art' (even though IBM mainframes worked in EBCDIC!).
