I would like to be able to show averages on a pivot chart.

I have a large amount of data in the chart (around 40000 lines) so have attached a very small sample as an example.

The chart shows the number of appointments per GP practice per specialty. The pivot chart allows me to compare all practices accross either patient type, specialty or both.

I would like the chart to be able to show an average either in the form of a line or bar.

I dont want to have to calculate an average in the data sheet as i am dealing with such a large number of specialties and practices.

I hope this makes sense - grateful for any help

If you want the average and not the sum, in the wizard dble-click the "SUM of..." field and change it to average

If you want both a sum and average: drag the field "spells per 1000" in the wizard to the data section and change it to average.

    Sorry, I misunderstood.

I though you either wanted the 4 "sum" columns for the chart converted to 4 "Avg" columns or that you wanted the 4 sum columns with 4 average columns...

I don't think it is possible with a pivot chart to do what you want. You would have to create a chart using the pivot table or one created from the raw data
