    how to create link

    I was trying to find why when i insert an image with a link then i add alt="example " when i mouseover it will pop out a box with the word example BUT why it dun work when i type in a word with link and add alt="example" . How can i make a word with a link when it mouseover , it will pop out a box with the naming i key in. <img src=/S/flee.gif border=0 alt=flee width=25 height=25>

    The ALT attribute only applies to the IMG tag, and not to the "<A HREF=".

    One way around would be to create your word as in image, and and use the image of the word rather than the word itself.

    Instead of putting "example" in the "alt=" parameter, use the javascript "window.status='example'", and put it in the "onmouseover=" parameter. Don't forget to also reset the status bar with "onmouseout=''".

    A different technique- but which is probably more cross-browser friendly.

    This will display a message in the status bar at the bottom left of the window (I hadn't realised this until I tried your example).

    It may be a bit subtle for some users?

    True. I use it to display info regarding a link other than the URL which is normally displayed there.
