MS Photo Editor or alternative (Office 2003)

Well, I don't know nuthin' 'bout no McAfee no more, so I can't speak to that. But, based on the "re-direction" fears, I won't go near TinyURL in the future. Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances...

Re-install Photo Editor from your Microsoft Office XP CD-ROM

1. Insert the Microsoft Office XP CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

If the Office XP Setup program does not start automatically, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type drive:\Setup.exe, where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
2. Start to step through the setup process, and then select Customize for the type of setup to perform.
3. When you reach the Selecting Features step, set each node of the setup tree to Not Available.

Thank you Al. Seeing I bought the computer second hand it follows I have no disc to insert as you advised so I shall go back to the shop where I got it and see if he has such a CD. One wonders at the intelligence of the guys who introduce new app. which have less capabilities than the ones being consigned to the scrap heap. As I said, I found Photo Editor so simple to use but PM is in my estimation a backward step so unless I can locate someone with 2002 I suppose I'll just have to get used to what is now installed or try something else. Thanks anyway SF.

You ought to check out Photo Gallery - Windows Live. It is free, easy to use, and does basic photo editiing very well.

Thanks Al & Joe. I am delighted to report that after discovering that I do in fact have a CD of MO 2000 and following the instructions posted by Al I was able to extract PE which I personally find dead easy to use compared with PM that replaced it. Seeing PE serves me quite well and -at the moment- does all I require of an editing prog. which is predominently capturing screen shots and reducing their size, I will never-the-less have a look at the option you suggested Joe and see how it appeals to me.
