    Just curious what rev bars are-- the colored text when track changes is enabled?

    Do you mean revision bars? Word can put a line in the margin next to text that has been changed as well as showing it in colour.
    In the options for how tracked changes are shown, Word refers to this as "Changed lines".

    As Ian Wilson has said, a rev bar is a Revision Bar which is a vertical line that displays either on the left or right margin of the text to bring your attention to text that has been revised. This is commonly used to allow someone to quickly spot revisions when browsing the document. The actual revisions may or may not be shown - that is an optional setting independent of the actual revision bar.
