I have been given the unenviable task of doing some big time Spring cleaning here in the Log Cabin. The jobs today included:

    1. Cleaning and painting a window frame in the bathroom
    2. Cleaning out a section of the garage
    3. Going to the dump with said items
    4. Converting a set of old book shelves into a towel rack and vanity stand for the bathroom
    5. Sorting some books and placing them on the new shelves

So in all it has been a very industrious day. During my escapades in the garage I pulled out a box and brought it into the Log Cabin to go through and to my absolute delight I found a little pouch with a lovely glassy, rattly sound......my Marbles, WOW.

I pulled open the bag and inside were 50 shiny marbles, some chipped from long lost games and others looking as though they had never been used. I pulled out one wonderful little blue one, I remember it well, a French one, I swapped it for 5 marbles with a little French boy when I was on holiday in St Tropez back in 1972, another one is like a tiger's eye, firey orange with series of red stipes in it, that was my King marble, won many a game did that one. Jezzarette 1 and 2 could not believe that I could resight the games and how many marbles I swapped it for and could remember them 37 years later.

Isn't amazing how something so little can bring back such vivid memories

I think we all were aware that you'd lost your marbles Jerry.

You beat me to it Doc. Even though we were all convinced via many of his KTS experiments it turns out they were merely mislaid. Good find there Jezza.

It is funny how your mind works. As I was reading your story Jezza it brought to mind my favorite marble. A big Steely that was, as you put it, my king marble. it was not to be messed with and was the capper to many a winning game for me. Unfortuantely, in a fit of maturity, I gave mine away to a friend's son. He promptly lost them in a game

I still have all of my marbles. (At least I think so.)

Must have at least 500 of them.

In my youth back in that empty lot we used for our games, I had one of the best trained thumbs in the hood.

Never lost many, but won more than I can remember.

Keep them in a very thick glass fish bowl with my best shooters sitting on top of them.

You are right about looking at them and how it can bring back a flood of memories that bring about feelings that can be very hard and almost embarrassing to explain.

If I were you, put them some place where they can be safe from high places.

Remember, they are glass and can shatter like a few of our dreams have.

    Great find!
    Catz
