Please see graphic (latest PC version of Skype, 4.0.0.206):

Can anyone tell me what is the Skype jargon name for the message area wherein I have inserted the "Not sure..." sentence - and how I can get rid of the contents?
    Thanks!

I'm not sure which screen you are looking at - is this the main Skype window just under the toolbar? (Skype, Contacts Conversation, etc.)

If so, have you tried clicking inside the text area, and then selecting and deleting the text?

(I have version 4.0.0.226 should it make any difference.)

I meant to say - I think this is the 'Mood' text box.

Thanks for that - you may have noticed above my graphic that I have the same version of Skype as you!
No, unfortunately you can't even select the text let alone delete it. I am wondering whether it might be a message left by the other person (in the "Add video or write a message here for your friends to see"), but for the fact that I seem to remember typing it in!
The first part of the message also appears to the right of the Skype name in the All Contacts tab.
It seems you are right about this being the Mood Text Box, but Googling seems to indicate that the text should be editable, but it isn't. Ho-hum...

Sort of - they are slightly different versions (which is why I said "should it make any difference").

Is this text shown against the profile of the user who is logged in and using Skype, or against only a contact? A bigger screen shot showing the view in context may help.

OK - I would say that is your contact's mood and you need to get them to click in their mood box (where your shows "Add video or write a message...") and delete the text.

As to why you should have a recollection of writing it yourself, have you read J. W. Dunne?

A relative of Joan Hunter-Dunn, maybe? (see pome at the end)
    Or An Experiment with Time?

Thank you for elucidating this mystery!

The 'or' is what crossed my mind. Or it will do tomorrow.
