Like any father we are expected to undertake some of the strangest of challenges and requests from our minors at the most inopportune time and at the drop of a hat. This particular time was at 10.08 this evening when Jezzarette 2 approached me with her school shoes....

"Dad my shoes are broken! Mum said you will mend them"

Taking a slow intake of breath counting to 5 I reply

"Thanks J2, excellent timing only 10.08 pm this time what do you expect me to do at this time of night?"

The reply

"Uuummm mend them" and then proceeded to scarper

Mrs J turns to me and says "Last time she borrowed my shoes and got a detention is when she broke her shoes you better repair them"

So I have sat here tonight looking at said shoes, the threat of my darling J2 getting a(nother) detention, Mrs J having passed me her Mother's housewife with the expectation of sewing a strap and button to outers. I have so far used:

1. A safety pin
2. A darning needle
3. A pair of tweezers
4. Masking tape
5. a can of beer
6. 2 plasters

The shoe now mended, sits by the night stand ready for darling J2 to try them on in the morning, detentionless and happy. I sit here, near the night stand, awaiting the next bizarre mending challenge!

If at first you do succeed, you've probably missed something.

My shoes are dead too.

Can you heel them?

Only one can of beer ! I would have thought that the minmum required amount of consumed beverage would have been at least two. One to get you through the process (assist in stimulating the mind) and one in celebration!

Good Job Jeeza from one Dad to another. I always looked forward to the greeting "they have a project due in the morning and they need your help!" Translation, they have a project due and you need to put it together for them.

I have a sandal where the back half of the lower part has come away from the back half of the upper part. Please post your address so I can send it to you to glue the parts together (See, I am giving you more time than J2 did!)...
