How can I produce a stand alone version of my Access application that I can distribute to those XP users who do not have Access? An mde does not do it. I have heard that a 'developers extension kit' for Access alows distribution of a stand alone, cannot be edited version - but I can find no trace of such a thing.

The Access Runtime version came with the Office Developer Edition of Office XP, but you won't be able to get that any more except perhaps second-hand.

The Access 2007 Runtime is available for free, however. You can distribute it to users who don't have Access installed. It should work with Access 2002 databases too.

See Download details: Access 2007 Download: Access Runtime.
