    thanks to Woody, I learned I don't have to update immediately every
    windows patch immediately after it is published. so I wonder if there is
    any place where I can find the chronological windows patches history, complete
    with publishing dates: so, when I'll install a new system (xp, vista, 2003...) I'll exclude
    from updating i.e. the patches from the last month...

    There is no public list that I know of. There have been so few problems with released patches the last several years I don't think it is worth your time & effort to try to track all that information. I routinely install the monthly Microsoft patches within a day or two of release at home & at work. Then I approve the installation for the other PCs at work a day or so after that. There have been very isolated instances of a patch no installing that have been easily corrected.
