Upside down or mirror (Word XP)

<img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> I'm working on a tutor sheets for arithmetic and math. I have problems for the students in one column of a three column table. I have room for them to write their work in the next column. I have the answers, including all the details, in the third column. I want the answers to be readily available, but a little difficult to read easily. I would like to turn the text upside down if possible. If not, can I make it a mirror image? I've been through the "Format" commands and nothing seem appropriate. If I can't do it any other way, I'll make it a very small size type, which leads to problems with copiers.

If you use WordArt, you can flip rotate text. There is one style in the gallery that is white with a black outline. You could format that to be black instead of white, change the font size, and resize the WordArt to fit in the table cell.

not sure what you need to do but here's something that may help from word 2K (assume the feature's in XP).

    1. when in the table, open the Table and Borders toolbar. This can be done right from the std toolbar (there's a button for it) or from the View | Toolbars menu
    2. select the 3rd col. Click the change text direction. This will only give you the ability to have the text sideways (in either direction) but not upside down. (I think there may have been a thread on this but not sure.) It also has an unpleasant side affect, at least in my limited experiment, of making the rows bigger - not sure why. Maybe it won't in yours.

You should be able to locate a font of that is "mirrored" or "upside down", as I have seen then but can NOT remember where.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I have used Word Art to do the same thing - if you use the one that is white with the black outline, not only can you change the fill color, but you can also set the 'line' to none, and change the font to be the same as your usual font. This will make the word art look almost identical to your normal text.

Also once you format one, you can cut and paste into each of your answers then just edit the text to be what you want - it saves time over trying to individually format each answer.

    Good luck!
