    XP Home edition

Is there any way to automatically format a new document in Word which will always result in :

    1) one inch margins all around

    2) Verdana type face - 12 picas in size

    3) Spacing of 1.5

    4) Indent of .8 inches

So that this automatic formatting should come up every time that I open a new Word document.

    Thanks for any help...

    Ted

You should be able to make this settings in a new document, and then Save as the default.

I no longer have a copy of Word XP, and I do not remember the steps in saving the defaults.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Open the default template Normal.dot. Its default location in Windows XP is

    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

You have to display hidden files and folders in order to see this path (Application Data is a hidden folder).

Change the margins etc. the way you want. If you enter some text in order to test, don't forget to delete it before saving.

    Finally save and close Normal.dot.
