What happened to the Start Windows sound choce / option? Or has blindness caught up to me finally?

Yeah, but I don't see where it can be altered like before.

That option is in XP but NOT Vista or Windows 7.

Now, you can have what Microsoft says to use or nothing.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Strange they'd do that. It's such a "detail." Oh well, certainly inst life-threatening.

    Thanks Dave.

Well they (Microsoft) spent a lot of money and time in researching for the "Best" start up tune.
So they want you to use their choice.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I see, but you didn't ask if it could be altered.

As Dave has mentioned, sort of, it is part of the "Windows experience"; either one has to use it or nothing.

See Windows Vista startup sound - Operating Systems. It is probably the same for win7.

It seems to me that "probably" someone at MS decided that having a sound for both Windows Start and Logon was a bit redundant. So, they eliminated one of 'em. No big deal, there's still the exit music.

It is truly no big deal Doc, I suppose I'm always asking the "why" as opposed to just the "what" or "how". It appears that, at least this time, the answer is "just beacause."

    Thanks,
    Chuck
