    Unhappy

In Internet Explorer 7, when I select a link on a web page, it winds up being behind the page I'm viewing and I have to either lower the original web page or minimize it to see the new web page.

It must be something that I selected that causes this, as this just started.

Does anyone know how I can correct this annoyance?

Are you using Shift+click to force a new window for the links, or are the links pre-configured to open in a new window?

If you use TweakUI, try toggling the setting relating to windows stealing focus.

If this only happens on one or a few sites, perhaps they have a script that forces their pages to remain in front.

    Dave, my friend,

I don't install TOYS, I play one game on my computer. All the rest are programs used to make my use of the computer more pleasurably, useful or easier, thank you very much!!!!

Jscher: I run TweakUI 2.10.0.0 for Windows XP (SP1 or higher) and I have that option selected.

No, I'm not using The Shift+Clk keys. It happens only when I'm on the web and on all sites. That's why I figured that something must be selected to cause it.

Does it make any difference if you toggle the setting (to whichever state(s) you have not already tested)?

I'm curious why you choose to open links in a "new page" rather than a "new tab"? It's your choice, of course, and I'm not suggesting that opening every link in a new page is wrong. But it is rather odd since one of the most desirable additions to IE7 and IE8 has been "tabbed browsing".

IF, however, you would actually prefer to use the tabs feature, may I encourage you to open "Tools/Internet Options" and play with the settings for "Tabs". The way I have the Tabs configured is to open links in a new tab and it also has focus.

I've just done that, we'll see what difference it makes.

I've just made changes to Tab Browsing. I now have open links from other programs set as: A new tab in the current window, is this what you were referring to?

Please let me know how you have the options under When pop-up is encountered. I have selected Always open a pop-up in a new tab.

Pilgrim, you were so right, I did as you suggested and now all links open as they should and I'm so delighted.

Thank you so much for the tip.
