    Hi there
I'm probably overlooking the obvious but I have a question.

Sheet 2 row 7 people have to select a Type (dropdowns) and when they only have Type A and B they select "..." where C is.
    Then they select the category.

However, they can select "..." and in the next row be able to select, say, 3C. On the page itself I can do conditional formatting and say.. if that cell is ... the font colour is white, so you can't see.

However, it is transferred to a master sheet.

Is there a way I can stop people selecting anything but "..." (row 8) if the Type selection also is "..."

I do realise this is double Dutch big time, so I have attached a simple spreadsheet.

    Thanks heaps

You can make the definition of the named ranges AA, BB and CC dependent on the user's choice in row 7. For example for AA:

    =OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$17,0,0,1,IF(Sheet2!$D$7=".",1,5 ))

    See attached version.
