My co-workers are clinicians that deal with crisis calls. What they want to bve able to do is when they receive a crisis call they can press a button on their windows desk top that will make an alert sound to alert the others that they are on a crisis call. Is there a way to program a button on your desktop to do this? If not, what about coding it in outlook, since they all have their mail open? The desk top of course would be ideal. Thanks

To create a stand-alone application would require a compiler such as Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition.

An alternative could be a PowerPoint slideshow (.pps) with just one slide saying "I'm on a crisis call" and with a sound playing repeatedly. The users could place a shortcut to the slideshow on their desktop.
