    hello

i got a nasty virus on my home pc.

i managed to remove & clean up the virus, but its left nasty side effects.

    1. its renamed my profile
i know how to clean up profiles at work.
How would i find out the administrators password on a home pc so I can clean up the profile. on Windows XP - do I need to go back to the vendor?

    2. the virus effected my some core .dll files
    one of them rundll32.exe
I managed to clean up my dll files.

Now...what happens is when I start my pc, itll be on for a little while (5-20minutes), my pc will make a "beep" noise, and the pc freezes. I then have to restart my pc.

any ideas? or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

1.) Often on XP PCs at home there is no password on the administrator account. Also, you could try creating a new account with admin rights and then login to it.

2.) Try running "SFC /SCANNOW" (without the quotation marks and with a space between the C and /). Also, have you run one last thorough a/v scan?
