I recently updated my video driver, and ended up playing with colour schemes. In the end I reset Vista to one of its defaults, which is fine with me, but I appear to have lost control of my previously respectable-looking office displays and would welcome a quick fix.

    Gotcha!
I remember reading a post regarding a similar problem some time ago. I'll have to do some digging and see if I can find it. In the interim, hopefully someone else will have a solution.
Edited to add: Would you have by chance one of the "high contrast" color schemes selected?

Windows Vista Basic is the Window Colour and Appearance, and Windows Vista is the Theme. I just changed this latter and haven't rebooted, but it appears that the settings for Office (ribbon, at least) are independent of the Vista settings.

I'm really not sure then. Hopefully someone else can come up with a suggestion. In the meantime, I'll keep digging.

Take a look through the replies to Office 2007 User Interface - perhaps there's something that will help.

It is remarkably similar to this thread: [topic="716960"]All office 2007 programs have changed their look (General MS Office Suite)[/topic].
