Last week I downloaded and installed Vista SP2 sucessfully. I noticed in my Programs and Features page a new program, RC_Vista.exe. I dont know if it was there prior to download. Does anyone know what this is and what it does? Can it be deleted without causing harm?

What is this "Programs and Features page"?
Where do you find the "Programs and Features page"?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

In Control Panel, thats where you go to uninstall a program, turn Windows features on and off. View installed updates. Or you can go to the Programs page...same thing. Lists all programs, wher you uninstall etc.

Sorry, I forgot that Add and Remove programs was renamed to "Programs and Features page" in Vista.

I do NOT have this RC_Vista entry on any machine that has Vista SP2.

When you are in the "Programs and Features page" select this RC_Vista file and give us a screen shot of the information near the bottom of the pane.

This may tell us the source

Do a Google search on it and you will find that it has been around for some time and did NOT come with SP 2.

    From here.....

"here is what I found on rc_Vista.exe it downloads with program file in the OS restore and was there with the factory settings. Dell has messed with it but has not said to do anything with it. So, I guess it is needed but confused why error shows up and they do nothing about it. They want to again reinstall my system with 'a clean reinstall of system'. I'm tired of the reinstall as I have to start all over again with everything outside of my backup range of info.
Additionally, it show up as Default program under 'Programs and Features' with no publisher name and is 3.69MB.
