    Welcome to Woody's Lounge.

I believe that it is safe to assume that the world has not ended and the sky has not fallen in your little corner of the world and that your PC is humming along nicely. Thus, it is also safe to assume that your computer is going to be fine and will survive the update.

If, however, you notice some unusual or problematic behavior in the next few days or weeks, post the symptoms here and we'll be happy to assist you. Or just stop back to Lounge around.

Where did you read that it was to be avoided?
To my knowledge, a LOT of loungers ( myself included ) have already installed SP 2 and without any problems.
You haven't mentioned any particular trouble since installing it, so "don't worry...be happy!"

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

Several months ago, Susan Bradley on her Widows Secrets patch column advised not to nstall Vista SP2 for a while due to problems. Recently in her column, I think she mentioned that it was ok to now intall SP2. Even though I have it, I haven't installed it yet. She wrote several articles about it in her column.

I have had since day one, and installed from Windows update. Had no problems on any of our Vista machines.

The problem up front, was that the patch would NOT be listed if some earlier required updates had not been installed.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

There is an app that has been mentioned several times in Windows Secrets called System Information for Windows that will give you more information about your system than you will ever be able to use, including the Windows version and update numbers. Much of the info will only be useful to geeks, but much of it is very useful to all. Check it out.

I installed "Service Pack 2" in Oct. 2009 and never had any problems so if your PC is working OK ...don't worry about it.
