    Linked Files (excel 2000/excel 97)

I used some existing workbooks to create a new excel workbook. The original had some existing links, but I deleted all possible visible links to the original files(formulas). Now I when open the new workbook a message keeps reappearing regarding linking to the old files. I can't find any reason for the links, but I do see the files when I choose the menu option Edit->Links. Is there some hidden links between the files. I am unable to delete these links and would like to do so. I was sent a delete links macro from Microsoft but it doesn't seem to work. Isn't there any easy way to kill these links.
    How do delete linked files

Go to Insert-Name-Define. Sometimes, named ranges refer to external links. Just delete those named ranges.

As Legare suggested, Bill Manville's routine is good. There's also one from MS. Check <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=xl&Number=30606&page=&v iew=&sb=&o=&vc=1#Post30606> this post</A> for a discussion and another link from MS.

Get Bill Manville's FindLink. It will help you find and delete the links.
