    Thumbs up

The two accounts are: Administrator Last Used: 10/08/07

    Owner Last Used: 06/08/09

My concerns are should I keep both accounts? I understand that Administrator can be disabled or removed. I have had no problems with having them both.

Which one is the best to use (will give me greater access to my computer)?

I believe that if Owner logon fails I have the other to get me into Windows, is that a fact?

No problems, would just like the questions answered. BTW, I logon with no passward as I'm the only user.

Thanks guys, I know you all have the answers.

It is always good to have the Administrator account available. You should not use this account as your every day account. If it became compromised then the "bad guy" would have unfettered access to your PC.

Yes. If the Owner login became corrupted you could use the Administrator account to access the PC and repair the damage.

I always make my self a second Admin account and use it ONLY as a back door.
On XP and before I was able to "Hide" this account so it would NOT appear on the Login Page.
I have a admin account that is hidden on most computer that I support with the owners permission. It is highly passworded so the system owner can not get in a use it. I will make Them a second account and hide it so they can a back door, but I keep mine for my use when I am trouble shooting their machine. It has paid off several times by having this hidden account.

This "Owner" account is the one that is made by the OEM, which I do not use. I will make my own account and then the Owner and files get deleted up front, I never want to see it again. yes it can be renamed, but the User folder will still be "Owner".

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Because I don't sign in, any one who tried to enter my account would not be able to see my account information, is that correct?
I don't want it hidden, I might just be hiding it from myself and what a terrible situation that would create.

If you don't sign in with a password, than ANYONE who might logon to your computer would have access to EVERYTHING that's stored on the machine.

It appears to me that you have ONLY one account and there is no password or that you have your system tweaked to "Auto" login into you account and password. Which means as Joe stated, you have NO protection to having access to your machine.

I got it backwards, didn't I? Still no problem though, if I catch anyone but a tech near my computer their head goes on the chopping block.

I have good protection against human intruders, my shotgun.

I thought that was what a good Firewall was for, or am I mistaked again?

The firewall protects you from INTERNET intruders not people who sit down at your computer keyboard.

If you choose to use a shotgun for your computer security, I suppose that falls under "personal choice".
