I have been using Windows Mail for a couple of months and suddenly one of the accounts is having trouble. I use Mailwasher to check emails before downloading them with no problem. The user name and password for each account is accepted by the server. However, when it opens Windows Mail, I get the message below.

Account: 'pop.biz.rr.com', Server: 'pop.biz.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Any idea what is going on?

Looks a lot like a Microsoft server issue. I've gotten similar errors for my MSN email as well as other POP3 accounts in Outlook Express. If it doesn't straighten itself out in a week I'd contact support.

Check that the userid and password are correct for the account.

You ought to check into Mail - Windows Live. WLM is the follow on product to Windows Mail.

    Thanks for the quick responses.

There has been no change in the user id and password. As I mentioned, there is no problem with the other account and there is no problem with the gremlin account when using Mailwasher to check for spam and unwanted emails previous to entering Windows Mail.

Docwatson, I am not familiar with the "Microsoft server" issue. Would that be within the laptop? Which support group would I contact?

    Thanks again.

Based on the server repsonse, it can't hurt to reconfigure the account in Windows Mail. If that does not work, I suggest you contact the ISP.

In this case, as Joe said, I'd contact your ISP. I'm guessing it's RoadRunner from the error message. When I said Microsoft error message, I guess I really wasn't being clear. I meant that the error was one I had gotten quite often using a Microsoft MSN account and while using Outlook Express, but overlooked the reference to the particular server in your error message. The errors I was getting were more generic and did not mention a particular server.
