For compatibility purposes I need to have both versions of Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 on my computer simultaneously.

I would like for the Default Program to use when starting from Windows Explorer to be Excel 2003, but the only choice that
I see is Excel -- which turns out to be Excel 2007.

Is there an easy solution to this?

You could place shortcuts to Excel 2003 and to Excel 2007 on your desktop.

You can reregister Excel 2003 to make it the default application to be used for .xls files:
    - Select Start | Run...
    - Type the following, using the path where Office 2003 is installed:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Excel.exe" /regserver

    - Press Enter or click OK.

But chances are that Excel 2007 will take precedence before long...

What I did is create two shortcuts on my desktop, one for 2003 and one for 2007. I also added a hotkey for each of them, so if I hitcontrol+shift+e, 2007 opens and if I hit control+shift+x 2003 opens. Very handy!
