I have told this site many times to remember me but it doesn't. I'm not sure if it is the fault of Woody's Lounge, which I doubt, or something within Windows XP or IE 7 that has changed. How can I correct this problem?

    Thanks

Remembering you is in fact storing a cookie from the Lounge. If you have a setting within IE that deletes all cookies, either after a certain time or after a reboot, then the Lounge "forgets" you!

The Lounge uses a cookie to remember your login status. If you don't allow cookies to be stored between sessions, or if you have some kind of utility that regularly deletes cookies, you will have to log in each time you visit the Lounge.

I tried finding a setting for them inside IE's Internet options and can't find anything. Where should I be looking for this setting to make sure cookies are enabled and not deleted? By the way this is happening on more than one computer.

I just checked and found a folder that IE took me too which is full of cookies. So apparently I am storing and not deleting cookies yet I am still not remembered here.

Look at the settings in the Privacy tab of Tools | Internet Options...

It still depends on the settings - you can specify whether cookies are deleted. If you do, the Lounge cookie will be deleted too!

One other thing: if you haven't visited the Lounge for more than a week (7 days), you will have to log in again even if you specified "Remember me"...

I find neither of these with IE 7 maybe you're using IE 8. I did find though that it said IE was not my current default browser which is strange since I have no other. I'll see if that makes a difference. Also I cannot find anywhere that allows me to delete cookies except manually on the General tab of IE. Still then I have to hit the "delete" button and once a new page is presented I must then choose to delete "cookies"

Well making sure IE was my default browser did no good. Any idea where in IE7 I would find if I am automatically deleting cookies because I have looked at every setting on every tab under "Tools" "Internet Options" and have searched the WEB, still to no avail. Actually under IE7's help they only talk about manually deleting cookies and I can find no mention of any way to automatically do that. So I am confused as to how the cookie for Woody's Lounge would be getting deleted if in fact it is. BTW I have no third party programs that allow cookies to be automatically deleted which seems to be the only way it would be possible from what I can find.

    Thanks

I DO have IE 8 but it seems to me the settings were about the same for 7 & 8.
How about checking the privacy tab? You can move the slider up and down to see just what each setting does.

I messed with that setting already and even set it to LOW but it did no good. BUT I think I may have found and corrected the problem.

For ages I have logged into this site using http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/login.pl?Cat=# and that is the link that after I close out it does not remember me. So after I logged in the last time I copied that link which is http://www.wopr.com/index.php?& and now when I close out I can come back in without having to log in again. That would certainly explain why it was doing the identical thing on all my computers. At least I think it would explain it. But it doesn't explain the "cookie" aspect of it to me.

    Thanks

Ah yes, that explains it. We moved to new software in February, and although we're still using wopr.com. the addresses of Lounge pages have changed. The old start page http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/login.pl?Cat=# is redirected to a new page where you can provide username and password, whether you're already logged in or not.

WOW I'm glad that is solved because the "cookie" aspect of it was driving me crazy and some would say that is no drive, just a short putt.

    Thanks.
