Whilst fooling around with the addon Lightning in Thunderbird ( Post 780683 ) I was wondering what the Lounge populace uses for mail programs. So, here's a poll. You don't have to comment, but please "vote" if you will. Thanks!

How about "None of the above"?

For work it is Outlook otherwise it is None of the above

Well folks, it's obvious I screwed that one up by not including a None or Mac category. Sorry 'bout that.

Outlook and Outlook Express are quite different; they shouldn't be lumped together.
Windows (Live) Mail is the successor of Outlook Express, so it would have made sense to group them together.

Yeah, I know those things, Hans, but I wasn't trying for "scientific accuracy" on this one. What I was really looking for, I AM seeing so far in the results. It does look like 2/3rds of Loungers use Outlook or Outlook Express and (my key interest) a relatively small number of us are using Thunderbird.

THAT was my interest in starting the poll. Said another way, it's clear that 2/3rds of Loungers use a MS email product, if you count both Outlooks AND both Windows Mail options.

Outlook at work but I have no choice there.

I currently use Thunderbird at home after using Pegasus for many years. I gave up on it (Peg) in the end because of its clunky behaviour.

I've steered clear of OE because of its previous security problems and even while I'm eligible for Outlook through my firm's MS home user plan I've not taken that up because I don't need all of Outlook's PIM stuff.

Not unlike most here, I am forced to use Outlook when at work but I prefer Thunderbird when working from home.

Yeah, I can see now that I should've made the poll "multiple answers" but the results, albeit a rather small sampling, make it clear that a Microsoft product is used by "about" 2/3rds of the people who answered. Thunderbird, at about 20% has a long way to go.

What about non-apps? I use Outlook at work but for home I use a single Gmail account to manage multiple personal email addresses.

I use Lotus Notes for work, and gmail for personal emails.

Given an option to choose for myself at work, I'd being using gmail there also.
