    Hi Moniq
Did you have to buy the 2002, or is there an upgrade from 2000?

By coincidence, my 2000 expired and this is a paid renewal. I have no info on upgrade to 2002 for unexpired registration. Seems only fair that that a no-cost download would be offered.

there will be an upgrade version, just as in the past.

the only thing that expired was the free virus defs, i think they cost like 5.95 US for a second year and are an excellany investment. (except you need 2002 for xp, but older OSs can stay with 2001)

Tx to you both. I'll go have a look. Should I try to install 2000 under XP first, though?

No, just get 2002 and install it under XP. The older ones may give you problems that you do not want. I tried 2001 in a build after RC1 and did NOT get rit of all of the problems until I formatted for another build.

And when upgrading to Windows XP make sure that Nortons has been unistalled, this will save a lot of heart burn.

I think Norton 2002 is only going to be obtainable by forking out cash.

This is standard for ALL disk app's that are affected by the OS changes, a company can not afford to GIVE away a new version when it is NOT a point release.

Don't want (or expect) anything to be given away - unless it's explicitly freeware.
Do expect upgrade from one OS to another to have a cheaper route than to buy a whole new version. Seems sound commercial sense to me : a loyal customer base strengthened and sustained. Companies can't afford not to do it. Otherwise, mon ami, users are going to start looking around, and just maybe finding something else more suitable. Keep 'em glued to your stuff is what I say and what better way than through financial incentive?

MerC's Law of Commercial Common Sense : your product is one of many that do exactly the same thing, so make sure yours does it cheaper first, better second, and prettier third.
