    Hi,

For the style "Captions", I have set the paragraph space before it at 16pts, which looks very good when it is in the main body of the text.

However, when a table is at the top of a page, the space before the Caption looks a little too large. Is there any way I can set a style preference up that will detect when the style is used at the top of a page and therefore decrease the space before the style in this situation?

Or is this not something Word can handle (and I would therefore use another style in these situations or just live with it)?

    Regards,
    Sam

Do you have a hard page break before your table?
Do you have anything ticked in Tools > Options > Compatibility?

Word should automatically suppress the "space before" at the top of the page, except if there is a manual page break, column break or section break before the paragraph.
