I am so frustrated, I've installed Firefox 10 and 11 and both are disasters. The hompage loads perfectly but when I click on links or history the web page loads with URL's all over the site and text is jumbled until it's almost unreadable.

The last time I uninstalled I finally let it remove everything, including history, saved passwords, etc. but that didn't help. I've removed every mention of Firefox in the registry with no success on reinstall. I also removed all add-ons and extensions, no help there either.

May I please have a download link for perhaps version 3.0.9 or even earlier, any one that will work?

If you get fed up with a browser these days there are multiple alternatives.

Instead of going backwards to a browser that probalby is not supported any more with less functionality and more security issues why not try Internet Explorer 8: Home page or Opera Browser | Faster & safer Internet | Free Download or Google Chrome - Download a new browser or Apple - Safari - Download Safari - Download the worldís fastest and most innovative browser for Mac and PC?

The problem is more likely to be with your profile folder (where Firefox stores user data), and not the application.

Try creating a new profile, see Creating a new Firefox profile on Windows - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
If the new profile works, you copy some user data such as bookmarks and passwords to the new profile, for details see Transferring data to a new profile - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

It is best not to copy any extensions, instead re-install them.

I think you're right, I don't want to replace IE7 with IE8, 7 is my default browser and I like it. I've decided to try one of the others you've mentioned, leaning toward Opera.

    Thanks for the link.

Sounds like a lot of work, and more work I don't need. It's easier to get another browser like Joe suggested.

    Thanks anyway.

A lot of work? You've gotta be kidding me! To create a new profile on the best browser in the industry can't possibly overwhelm you. You'll be sorry...

It depends on which is your primary browser. Let's say IE7 is your primary browser. If you hide your old Firefox profile folder (e.g., drag it to a location outside the usual path), then Firefox will set up like a first-time install and import your IE settings. If you want to salvage bits and pieces of your old Firefox settings selectively, then that can be a lot of work. But it's your choice.

By the way, I haven't noticed anything strange about the latest two updates to Firefox.

And installing a brand new browser with its associated learning curve isn't??

All recent releases of Firefox have been problem free for me. I'm looking forward the the imminent release of version 3.5.

I'm sorry already Al, I've been searching for a new browser that supports RoboForm, Lexmark Toolbar and Mail Washer Pro with no success. I will not use one that doesn't at least support RoboForm and Mail Washer. Therefore I will just have to take the bull by it's horns, bite the bullet and do what I have to do to continue using Firefox. Of course, I could do without a secondary browser.

That's a very good suggestion. The only thing is that I've uninstalled Firefox and will have to reinstall to move my profile folder. I'm going to do just that and cross my fingers, eyes too and hope it works for me.

    Thanks Jasher.

If Jasher's suggestion fails, I'll wait to get a secondary browser until the new release is published. That may work or it may not, I''lll try it for sure.

Please post the information when that occurrs,

Actually, try this first. Click through your profile folder in Windows Explorer to:

    <username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

    and rename Profiles to OldProfiles.

(Sorry if this is different on your OS, I still run XP.)

You can find this folder more easily from Start > Run and then put
    %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
into the dialog box and click OK

Great news! I now have Firefox 3.0.11 and it's working perfectly.
Here's the procedure I chose this time: Shut down my antivirus and antispyware programs. During the download I selected to save it to my desktop, and chose Custom - this allowed me to install Adobe Flash Player (which could have been the cause of my problem). Chose to import bookmarks (Favorites), History, Passwords and other data from IE (that included my home page). Then proceeded to get plugins and add-ons that worked with the new version. Installed my toolbars that I had before and Firefox is back almost like it was before the problem with the update.

I thank you, one and all for assisting me with this. Consider this thread closed.

Well done, Gloria! I hope you have as much success with version 3.5 which I believe is due to be released later today.
