I've just updated to Fx3.5 apparently without any glitches. It did however disable my Get Mail Plus extension. I'll have to look into getting a replacement.

Edit: I re-installed the original Get Mail Plus extension and it works with 3.5.

I got the update from within Firefox 3.0.11 itself, by selecting Help | Check for Updates...

I want to add something ELSE that might be of interest to other Fx users. Somehow, in the past several days of running the 3.5 release candidate, I stumbled on something called "Firefox Personas" which seems to be different than "themes." For the life of me, I just can't remember how I found it and I hope no one will care.

Here's the link and if you then go to the Gallery, you can click on one and see immediately how it will look on your screen: Personas for Firefox | Dress up your web browser.

I'm currently trying one that looks like this:

    Al,
Is it possible to update Firefox from version 3.0.10 to version 3.5, bypassing version 3.0.11?

    That shouldn't be a problem.

Hans, I hate to be a nuisance, but do you advised downloading 3.5 from the web or clicking on help > get updates? My past experience has made me gun shy, I'd hate to have to go through that again any time soon.

It doesn't really matter, but if you download and save the setup file to disk, you can easily repeat the installation if necessary, even if you momentarily have no internet connection.
Go to Firefox web browser and click the Free Download button.

Used your link to update Firefox, first it installed 11, I clicked Check for Updates and finally received version 3.5.

Viewed the new video sample, it played good but the sound was horrible. All links work and I'm happy as a rabbit in a briar path.

The new video sample didn't work very well when I tried it either - it stuttered a lot. This might well be caused by the large number of people viewing it at the moment - Firefox 3.5 has been downloaded about 5 million times in the first 24 hours. Or perhaps this feature still needs some fine-tuning.

Just curious, Gloria, but I thought from Post 782341 that you had already installed Firefox 3.0.11.

I did have 11 but it looked just like 10, where the text was all jumbled up and clicking on links failed to work. I don't remember where but I found a link for Firefox 3.0.10 again, after I completely removed all traces of 11, installed it and the text and links worked perfectly.

My link or yours, it doesn't matter. I download software files and save them in a folder so I can update THREE OSs that I have running and not have to download multiple times - XP, Vista and Win7.

I have just one OS, but I do save the download files to a folder for programs that I've purchased. If I need to reinstall I don't need to contact the company to obtain permission to reinstall without purchasing again.

I don't use Fx as my regular browser and I'm on 3.0.10 at the moment. If I go to Help | Check for updates, it only offers me 3.0.11.

I'll have to do it the longer way round!
