I don't know if it's the right spot but can anyone give me advice on finding good screensavers? I'm sick and tired of the weird geometrics on my screen. I'd like something more interesting to watch. Thanx. Greythings8

Windows comes with a "My Pictures Slide Show" which displays pictures from a folder you specify.

Note: you can download lots of screen savers from the Internet. I don't have recommendations for sites to try, but please be careful - some sites that promise "free" screen savers try to install malware on your PC. Make sure that your security software is active and up-to-date.

The "free" screensaver downloads are notorious for dumping spyware and malware on your PC. One site that can be trusted (although the screensavers aren't as cool) is American Greetings. Another oldie but goodie is Webshots.

You could also check out this Google search, but be careful and make sure all your protections software is up to date and running before you DL anything and then scan it once it is on your system, before you install it.

I used to work at Kentucky Educational Television (KET) for a few years where, it so happens I had a small part in the creation of a series of screensaver sets that contain images in and around Kentucky. After all these years I still think they're pretty and I see them in a number of medical and other facilities that I frequent with nursing home patients.

My role was finding and implementing the software to do the job so I had very little to do with the use of it after I left. Here's the link for your perusal: KET Screen Savers. Note that you have a choice of an RSS feed or downloading the individual packages for the regular Windows installation.

Another option to consider is turning off your monitor after a certain period of inactivity. Today's LCD monitors do not suffer from "screen burn-in" like the old CRT monitors did, making screen savers unnecessary. I have my power options set to turn off the monitor after 20 minutes of inactivity. It's the green eco-friendly thing to do.
