    Vista laptop
    IE8
    Latest Flash, Java, javascript installed
    Scripting enabled

Error when double-click on youtube video--

"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

(Note: exact same security settings--scripting enabled, etc.-- on an XP desktop and web videos play fine)

Try uninstalling the Flash Player using the special uninstaller - see How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control.
Then download and install it again from Adobe Flash Player.

I'm getting the same thing on my 64 bit Vista desktop, but the latest version of Flash Player will not install on 64-bit machines, and Adobe gives no estimate of when this will be corrected.

It will install on a 64 bit OS, just not in the 64 bit version of IE.

Start up IE using the 32 bit version, and then install Flash.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
