2007: For some reason, and I haven't a clue, my Personal.xls folder, where I had stored several macros, is nowhere to be found upon opening up Excel. When I attempt to create such a file, and when I hit the record macro button, Excel returns the following message: "Personal Macro Workbook in the startup fo;der must stay open for recording." When I hit ok, Excel returns a message that the macro did ot record. Any ideas on how I can set up my personal.xls folder so it will remain for all time?
    Thanks in advance.

See if Ron de Bruin's How do I create a PERSONAL.XLSB or Add-in helps. Note that the personal macro workbook is named Personal.xlsb in Excel 2007.

Thanks Hans. I tracked down my personal.xls folder, and it is indeed there (personal.xlsm)! However, when I open Excel, it still doesn't open up the personal.xls foder! Any ideas?

Check whether it has been disabled:
    - Click the Office button.
    - Select Excel Options.
    - Click Add-Ins in the navigation pane on the left.
    - Select Disabled Items from the Manage dropdown.
    - Click Go.

Hi Hans, me again with the same problem. I have found my personal.xlsb file (with the macros), but it is not showing up as disabled. How do I get it to open up everytime I open an excel file?
    Thanks in advance.

Is the file stored in the startup folder or alternate startup folder? The files from these folders are all loaded when XL starts...
