I use =WEEKNUM(A8,2) which gives me week 1 from January 1st

But the financial year starts in april is there a formula that will give me April 1st as week one.

    Try

    =WEEKNUM(EDATE(A8,-3),2)

EDATE(A8,-3) returns the date 3 months before that in A8.

Note for users of Excel 2003 and before: you need to install the Analysis ToolPak add-in (through Tools | Add-Ins...) to use the WEEKNUM and EDATE functions. In Excel 2007 the Analysis ToolPak functions are built into Excel itself.
