For reference, the post where Google Chrome was announced and discussed at length is: Post 730954.
Also mentioning the Google "empire" was a post from Leif this morning in Scut: Post 783480.

Since I have not kept Google Chrome up to date, I decided to look at their site. I was a bit behind so I downloaded not only the latest version but the beta as well. Strangely, they both say they are version 2.0.172.33. Has anyone been down this road?

Also, in case it's worth anything to someone, I had to use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove the old version. I have made a bunch of changes to my Firefox bookmarks structure and Chrome wouldn't import them. It insisted on using the old even though the Import command looked like it was working. After a complete uninstall and re-installing, it imported everything just fine on its own.

This announcement is actually for Google Chrome OS, an Operating System as opposed to a Browser!
