Divisor of 13?? (Word 2000)

I was attempting to split a Word Table cell into 3 columns of 12 rows when I received The message "The number must be a divisor of 13." A screen shot is attached.

What am I missing? Is this one of those easter eggs? Is this one of Word's latest way of throwing in the towel? Did I miss something that day I was absent from 3rd grade?

    Hi Jul,

Can you attach a file? All we need is the table portion.

Here's the table. The cursor was in the cell with the text "% Accountability Calculation Worksheet". That cell is a merge of about 12 cells in that column -- no cells from another column were involved.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Hi Julie,

The problem is your row count to the right needs to have the same number of rows you are trying to insert. Currently the worksheet has 14 rows (not counting the first and I suspect that you recently added another?) so you can't add only 13 rows you need to add 3 columns by 14 rows.

You'll have to insert 14 row and then if you need to remove a row, then it needs to be merged with either the row above or two the right.

Thanks for the help -- how do you guys know what you know?!

But i'm still puzzled about what "divisor of 13" MS was expecting me to enter.

    Hi Jul,

<<Thanks for the help -- how do you guys know what you know?!>>

I dunno - hang around the groups for awhile and you'll be surprised at what you learn!

You originally had 13 rows in the table and were trying to insert 12 rows. Had you originally began with 12 rows and tried to insert 11 then you would've received a "Divisor of 12" error.

IOW, you needed to insert 13 rows divided by 3 columns.

Same here. I was my my head over the message you posted too, but luckily when I tried 13 rows on the example you posted I recieved a message of "Divisor by 14". Then it was just a matter of deduction and counting your rows.

Re: Divisor of 13?? (Word 2000)

    Hi Jul & BAM:

I found that if I used the spin wheel in the split cells dialog box, it would automatically select only the numbers that were proper divisors. It was only when I typed the number in that I got an error message.
