    i want to thank all of you who helped me i am sorry i dont know a lot about computers i finally got my system restore back all my old restore points were gone but at least i now can restore if i need to so far so good. Now i have another question this was supposed to be a new computer i bought at walmart in april but when i run my duplicate file tool there are a loot and i do mean a lot . is there a way to tell what files are safe to remove without messing up my computer. it is taking up a lot of memory on my computer

    Leave the Program Files folder and the Windows folder (and all their subfolders) alone - if you delete files there, something may stop working correctly.

    It should be OK to delete superfluous files from your My Documents folder and its subfolders.

    Can you tell us something about these "duplicate" files ?? Are they text or image files (denoted by the file extension and/or icon) ?? Are they the same size or just the same name ??

    this is an example of somebutton try againg css user content local store rfd wmpb gif jpg inf caption.html 100 copies login.html 20 copies firewall warning gift 100 copies a lot of these are dated from before i bought this supposed new computer i do not know what is a text file what is an immage like i said i dont know much about computer but i know that when i run system mechanics i have thousands of duplicate files

    Puncuation would really help. As would the folders in which these files reside.
