I returned from a week's holiday to find that my desktop, which I had left switched on, is totally dead. It appears to be getting power from the mains as I can see a green LED inside which lights up when I connect to mains power.

It is a Dell Dimension 9150, and is just over three years old so that the 3 year at-home service has expired.

I have not had any problems before this.

I suspect the only solution will be to take it to a repair shop, but I would be grateful for any advice about things I coudl do myself before doing so. Thanks.

1.WHERE is this green light that you see? Did you open the case in order to see it?
2.Did you have any severe storms, lightning, etc when you were gone?

At first glance, it seems to be the power supply but the motherboard is not eliminated yet.

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!
