    I know this is something I should know the answer to, but I can not seem to get the right combination.

    I need to format a number 7.35 for example, to look like 00000735.

    I can not seem to get the right combination of characters to get the desired result.

    I don't think you can do that, the only way to multiply by 100 is to use a percent format, but you don't want a percent sign.
    You could create a calculated column in a query with formula 100*[FieldName] where FieldName is the name of your field, and use a custom format 00000000
