Chat stuff

Want to chat to someone instantly. What should I use?

Any suggestions, I'm new to this chatting malarkey!

Do you mean chat on this forum, or you are looking for software to set up your own chat malarkey?

ICQ is my preferred chat client. I restrict its use to people I want to talk to.

Other frequently used chat clients are MSN and Yahoo.

One frequent use is to get an urgent message to my girlfriend when her daughter is tying up the line with ICQ. Not much sense in leaving a voice message when it won't be received for several hours.

Chat servers are huge resource hogs. That's why most IPs won't allow them (unless it's one they provide). It's also why we don't have one ourselves but offer the links to ICQ instead.

Random Chat: MIRC You can find it here.

It uses IRC, or Port 6667-7000, and allows you to join many, many rooms and chat with complete strangers.. I was into it at one time... it's similiar to CB radios..
