When typing an email and I receive the notification that I've received new mail and flashes the desktop alert at the lower right of my screen, whatever I type for about 10 seconds doesn't appear and isn't included in my text. I have to sit and wait for few seconds to pass before I can continue typing. Others in my firm are experiencing the same problem. It doesn't seem to matter if the messages are small or large.

We've only seen it over the last 3 weeks or so. We have seen Outlook hang a little in the past while receiving new mail, but the keystrokes were cached before and all the text you typed during the process would suddenly appear. It isn't doing this anymore.

Has anyone else seen this problem lately?

I haven't experienced this behavior myself (I use Outlook 2003 SP3 at work), but I found one other recent mention of it: Outlook 2003 - Desktop Alert interferes with typing new message, without a reply.

That was actually posted by another person in my firm...so, same issue. Good find though.
