A friend has recommended HDClone - see http://www.miray.de/products/sat.hdclone.html#free and I wondered if any Loungers have any experience of this product?

    Hello IanWilson,
Don't know about "HDClone" But.... i just "cloned"my old hard drive via Acronis TI-11(8101) Did it through Acronis "recovery Manager" "Automatic" drive re-size Worked A-OK.( shrunk the 3 partitions ) Converted my old 360GB Hitachi hard drive"OS" /cloned from a 500Gb Hitachi Hard drive "OS" . If you want details post back and i will fill you in. Regards

Thanks for replying - sorry not to come back sooner, but I've been on holiday. It wasn't so much the process I wondered about as the particular product. Loungers have praised Acronis TI and Shadow Protect, but I wondered whether any had experience of this particular program. It has the virtue of being free, but for something as important as backup, that is not as important as reliability.

    Hello Ian,
Can't say about other versions of Acronis True image but for my"OS" TI -11, build 8101 works (with minor bugs) great! I think that anyone with a PC needs backup imaging software. If you don't your only setting yourself up for problems. The best one (imaging program) is the one that works on your system. So .. if you have a "tested " backup system , go and try the cloning software, there is nothing to loose other than a little time. Regards Fred
