Hello, I'm, using Thunderbird 2.0.0.22. I've tried to uninstall talkback (version 2.0.0.9) but it won't go. I seem to have disabled it but how do I get rid of it completely?

    Thanks.

Hmmm, I too have the same TB version and the same Talkback addon and don't even remember where along the line I got it installed.

It's funny that when I go to Mozilla addon sites, the Talkback isn't found under TB but it IS in the Fx list. Evidently hasn't been "updated" since 2007. I'm still looking in the KB list but everything I see is about Fx, not TB. Also strange that the Options button is grayed out regardless whether it's enabled or disabled! I may try to uninstall it to see if that works.

Well, let me go try the uninstall on mine 'cause it ain't "mission critical" and I don't need it.

I'll be back in a few minutes...

Worked like a charm for me - it's gone.

You didn't by any chance hit that CANCEL button did you? I used the upper-right (normal) close X and shut down TB.

Hi again, I didn't and since rebooting the computer it seems to have gone. No message about it requiring a reboot - never had to do that with other Thunderbird Add-ons. I'm sure this isn't the first time I've got rid of it - I guess it is reinstalled with every update to the program itself.

Almost every time I do anything with Fx or TB addons, I get the message that it must be re-started, but not necessarily a re-boot.

I think when we install there is a question about whether you want Talkback or not and I've never bothered to try NOT to install it; it has never been obtrusive to me.

That's part of the problem. I always do custom install and make sure Talkback isn't included. It seems to have come in with an update. I got the message about needing to restart Thunderbird - that's standard but it wasn't until I rebooted that it went.

Hmmm, good points Chris. Next time there's an update of either Fx or TB, I think I'll choose Custom and see what happens!
