I have an old directory w/ hundreds of old files (prolly Word Perfect) that have various or no extensions. I've learned that adding ".doc" to the file name permits MS Word to open & convert the file on the fly upon clicking.

As I don't want to manually do this one-by-one, is anyone aware of a simple application that will append (or change) an extension, i.e., ".doc", to each file name in a given directory?

I've not tried any of these but there's been loads of 'em mentioned in The Lounge in the past.

Here's an oldie: Rename files with 1-4a-rename. Perfect multiple file renamer for Windows 95/98/2000
